Who is BBIQ?

BBIQ is a group of expert professionals from a multitude of different disciplines including clinical psychology, basketball scouting, statistical analysis, and Silicon Valley technology. Combining 30 years of personality and team building assessment with a sport-specific analysis and technological expertise, we have brought together a team of the best to deliver our clients the most comprehensive and understandable solutions for success.

Our method begins by administering our personality assessment, which provides valid and scientifically proven data on the Critical Core Dynamics (CCDs) of personality that make up any individual. These are best be described as the "intangibles" of the game. We combine this data with additional data collected directly from the requester in order to get a measure of their personal expectations and expertise. We will then consult with the requester on our findings to come up with custom solutions to improve team chemistry and increase the bottom line-winning.

How can BBIQ help me to make the right player selection decisions?

When it comes to player evaluation, nothing is more important than the expectations of decision makers in the organizations. You are the experts on your team and your input is essential in determining which players best suit your needs.

First we build out a "Team Profile" with the organization to establish what each player's expected contribution is suppose to be, what timeframe he is expected to contribute it in terms of development, and what type of environment he is being asked to perform in. Next, we take the BBIQ Assessment information and review how that player "matches up" with his expected role on the team based on the team environment. This is called the "goodness of fit" evaluation, which is based off of our 3 Pillars of Success.

Can BBIQ help my organization to get more in depth answers during player interviews?

Absolutely. Engineering the personnel review process to pinpoint specific needs has a lot to do with the types of questions that are asked. We can help by creating better interview questions and analyzing the answers that are given. Many players will tell what they think you want to hear. BBIQ experts are trained to find the patterns behind the responses to determine what's really being said.

Can BBIQ help our organization in contract negotiations?

Yes. BBIQ assessment information is helpful to ALL parties involved in contract negotiations. Contract negotiation is often a stressful time for both management and player representation because it becomes a game of valuation and worth, which can sometimes turn into a personal battle between team and athlete.

BBIQ's philosophy is the more information that is available about a player's ideal working environment and overall skill set, then the easier it is to define the "goodness of fit" between player and team. By putting players in the best situation to succeed, BBIQcan help maximize the value a player brings to his team. While we can't guarantee that contract demands will be reasonable, BBIQ can certainly help to eliminate a great many of the gray areas that become points of contention during contract disputes.

Can BBIQ help me as a player to improve my marketability and overall performance?

Yes. Above and beyond all else, BBIQ is a tool for player development and talent maximization, which is why we work with youth athletes to help them take a more proactive approach to understanding their core strengths and weaknesses. Just like working on your jump shot, working on your understanding of what makes you successful inside will help any player to put himself in a better position to succeed. The more aware you are of what leads to your success the better your performance will become; therefore opening the door for a wide variety of opportunities.

Can BBIQ help to more clearly define the "job descriptions" associated with the roles of the coaches and players on our team?

Certainly. BBIQ's PASS, SHOT, and POINT Survey questionnaire's are specifically designed to help you define your team direction as well as the qualities you're looking for at each position. Working with the BBIQ staff will help you to identify the specific qualities you desire from both coaching staff and player personnel. Having empirical measures and legitimate "job descriptions" for these team positions will make it much easier to obtain the personnel with the right skill sets to get the job done.

What are the benefits of BBIQ's PASS, SHOT, and POINT data analysis systems?

The fastest and most cost-effective way to achieve your team's performance objectives is to track the developmental progress of all the personnel in your organization who contribute to a winning team. The best way to do this is to define the specific goals and strategic objectives of each position and track that developmental progress using research-based data.

BBIQ's PASS, SHOT, and Point analysis systems help to build out the specific measures required to track progress on both an individual and organizational level by giving you a clearly defined roadmap to your objectives, which is used to gauge progress. This eliminates much of the ambiguity and argumentation that takes place in many organizations when questions arise regarding team building, trades, and free agent acquisitions.

How will BBIQ help me in player development?

BBIQ's system identifies the Critical Core Dynamics that drive a player or other personnel to act the way they do. By taking a player's potential and studying his behavioral characteristics, we can create accurate developmental plans that will help to maximize the speed and overall ability of these players to perform. We can identify the best ways to motivate, coach, negotiate, and monitor your personnel to ensure that they are productive and feel that their needs are being met. This helps promote team chemistry and will enhance the reputation of an organization by creating an atmosphere that players will want to be a part of.

top ^
How can BBIQ help in team-building strategies?

BBIQ identifies a player's individual personality strengths and weaknesses and correlates how those differences affect their performance within the team environment. Understanding how these personalities feed into the shared objectives of the team will help the organization understand which roles are best suited for which players and will allow the players to realize more of their potential by putting them in the optimal positions to succeed. Effective teamwork requires sound strategy, clear objectives, good communication as well as trust between teammates and coaches. Good team chemistry isn't simple to create, but BBIQ provides the tools that make it easier to build.

Can BBIQ help with players who are struggling?

Yes. Our mission is to identify the "intangible" elements that are essential for player's success. We work with your organization to determine how these elements are affecting the player's performance. Sometimes it is a conflict with the coaching style, sometimes it is a lack of effective communication, trouble with a teammate, or just a bad fit overall. Whatever the issue may be, we have ways to pinpoint the problem.

top ^
How can BBIQ help with improving a player's work ethic and motivation?

Work ethic is typically something a player is born with and motivation is internal. But, BBIQ can help you to identify the different motivating tactics appropriate for each individual as well as help you to understand how a player views his team responsibilities. Sometimes a player who wants to work hard doesn't necessarily know what hard work is; therefore, getting the right message across to him and understanding his viewpoint will help improve the end results by putting everyone on the same page.

BBIQ sounds great, how do I get started?

It all starts with a phone consultation to determine your objectives and which BBIQ service offerings will help reach them. Once we establish a plan of attack, BBIQ will give you access to the materials needed to start building out your team profile.

What is the BBIQ Assessment?

The BBIQ Assessment is a scientifically validated personality assessment tool that has been engineered specifically to gauge the personality characteristics of basketball players in order to measure their most critical "intangible" traits. The Assessment has been developed with the help and expertise of basketball industry professionals to maximize the basketball relevant information contained within. This is the building block of BBIQ's consulting expertise, and combined with the feedback and input we receive from you, we are able to build out customized solutions based on information that is not only informative but also actionable.

top ^
What are the different ways to take the BBIQ Assessment?

The BBIQ assessment can be taken on our website or by hand, but should always be done with the supervision of aBBIQ staff member or the designated organization. The assessment is only as good as the certainty that all answers were filled out by the appropriate test taker. Confirmation that each test was completed by the designated test-taker is the only way to ensure accurate results. This is not a take-home test.

top ^
Sounds long, how much time will it take to do the BBIQ Assessment?

The BBIQ profile should take no longer than 45 minutes to complete. Gather everyone you want to have assessed in a room and in less than an hour we'll have all the information we need to get you started.

top ^
When should I expect to see the results?

Our assessments are not auto-generated, generic reports like many other companies provide. Once we've received your materials we will process every report based off the level of service you've requested. Single-player reports can be expected within three to four days, while total impact studies of an entire team or organization will usually process within 2-3 weeks. After the initial analysis is complete we will schedule a consultation time to review the results and answer any questions you might have. Additional consultation and subsequent analysis can then be scheduled accordingly.

top ^
Is this a "take home" test?

The only in-home assessments we provide are for high school level athletes looking to take part in our Player Portfolio service offering. These tests are proctored by telephone, when possible, and each non-proctored assessment is marked in our database and reviewed should that player begin to play on any professional or collegiate team. All collegiate or professional assessments must be supervised.

top ^
We have foreign players too. Can we assess them?

Our assessment is available in 25 different languages. Currently all of our results are delivered in English, unless specifically requested otherwise.

top ^
How accurate is the BBIQ Assessment?

Our personnel assessment service has yielded consistent "goodness of fit" results ranging from 75 % to 94% accuracy, depending on the level of depth an organization wishes to go. Collaboration is essential for realizing the highest results possible, so the more information an organization contributes about its team goals, player expectations, timelines, and team culture, the higher our rate of success.

General single-player assessment success ratings are based off of evaluations of performance in three to five year blocks-the collective time-frame that 78 percent of players realize their full developmental potential, based off our research over the past 25 NBA drafts. We track inner-seasonal timeframes based off specific criteria provided by the organization to ensure that our measures are consistent with team objectives.

top ^
Is the BBIQ Assessment all I need to make a player/personnel decision?

The BBIQ Assessment is a powerful tool for gaining insight into a player's "intangible" qualities. But, the assessment is only one element of evaluation. A player's physical abilities, the team's positional needs, the interview and workout process are all central elements to determining if a player is the right fit for your organization.

The most important element that BBIQ stresses are INPUT and COLLABORATION with any organization we work with. This is not a magical solution to solve all your problems without any effort. The BBIQ assessment is a building block for creating a more effective team performance evaluation that can save you tens of millions of dollars and years of wasted time on personnel mistakes, but one that takes a commitment from within.

top ^
How do I bring this up with my coaches and/or players?

The key to explaining why any member of the organization is taking a BBIQ Assessment is that they are not currently being tested. It is neither a good/bad or pass/fail exam nor an intelligence test. Like many professional organizations do on a regular basis, this is a team-building exercise that is designed to help all participants by identifying how to place everyone in the best position to succeed. We always stress the value of having coaches and players take the test together, so that they can see it's a process that they're sharing in. Executives are also advised to fill out their Survey information in the same room as well. The more everyone recognizes they are taking part in building a better team chemistry, the easier all of it is to understand.

top ^
Who should I give the BBIQ Assessment to?

The person(s) that you assess depends entirely on your objectives, which could include a full impact study of your team roster, a small group of players, potential draft picks, or a comprehensive team environmental analysis. We'll work with you to determine what you're looking to find out and build out a plan that best fits your needs.

top ^
What's the best way to share the results with the person who took the BBIQ Assessment?

Sharing the results of the BBIQ Assessment is an organizational option, which must be weighed carefully. BBIQ works directly with players and their agents to review the assessment results in order for a player to better understand what situations are going to have the greatest effect on his performance. We recommend not only being as open as possible with the results in order for all parties to gain an improved awareness of the circumstances but also cautious and selective.

top ^
Sounds like a good system for reviewing new players, what about the ones I already have?

The more you know about your current players the better. Whether you've had communication problems with specific players, are looking to determine value in a trade, or deciding which free agents or draft picks to acquire, every team is in a constant state of evaluation and building of some level. BBIQ can help to lay out a definitive blueprint of your team so the key decisions that every team faces can be made with the most certainty possible.
